Perfect, thanks!  As specified, I overwrote the existing 'twittering-mode.el' with the file at...

...and everything's now working perfectly again.

Does Twitter perform similar updates regularly, such that I'll need to apply other patches at intervals in the future? If so, I may simply switch to the GitHub distribution of twittering-mode to simplify the process.
