Sometimes I get audio, sometimes I don't (usually don't). I have no idea how to make it work, but when its not working, I don't see a plugin in PulseAudio's playback panel labelled "ALSA plug-in[tvtime]: Alsa playback on ..." It exists when things are working. I can ALWAYS record the audio from alsa device with audacity and play it back (as long as tvtime is running to set the channel). Even when it IS working, the volume control in tvtime doesn't work and always shows 0. I can't change it and I have to use pulseaudio's volume control on the playback screen. The input device settings don't effect the volume at all (which I find odd). Tvtime always displays (working or not) ..
Found "HVR-950Q : USB Audio (hw:5,0)"

I've tried playing with the mixer line in the config file, but don't know what it should be set to, and since I have no idea when it may or may not work, its tough to tell why it doesn't. I don't change anything and it may or may not fail, sometimes within a few minutes of trials. It can even lose sound if I start playing with the tuner settings and they don't go back when the picture comes back. I can still record it with audacity though!

I can't get it to break right now, but it hasn't worked in weeks. I'll update this again when it fails and note the non-working details if you like.

With sound not working, card is
    ekl@Taro:~/testhtml$ cat /proc/asound/card5/stream0
Hauppauge HVR-950Q at usb-0000:00:10.0-2, high speed : USB Audio

Otherwise, everything else looks the same. Stopping tvtime and restarting it brought back the audio, which has never worked before. Did I accidently fix something? It still stops itself after .. well, I don't know how long. A couple hours?

Whats the status on this? It was working okay under Elementary. I just upgraded to Sabayon (Gentoo deriv) and my audio is dead again. The device works under Windows (barely ... media center was too jerky after 5 mins or so).
