Hello,
I have been using version 1.5 for a while without problems. My tv card is on /dev/video1.

Version 1.5 works perfect with the following settings:
vlc pvr:// :pvr-device=/dev/video1
/dev/video1

I have the same settings on version 2.0 and it will not work. I receive the following error in vlc:
Unable to open 'pvr://'
Unable to open 'pvr-device=/dev/video1'

For version 2.0, my settings are copied from the example:
vlc pvr:// pvr-device=/dev/video1
/dev/video1
3
n

I have also tried to add a ":" in front of pvr-device to copy version 1.5 settings:
vlc pvr:// :pvr-device=/dev/video1
/dev/video1
3
n

So, it seems that version 2.0 simply isnt able to initialize the device on dev/video1.

Also, the only way I can get version 2.0 to run is if I right click and select sun java 5 (32 bit). This prevents the use of a symbolic link. In version 1.5, I can simply double click the jar file, and also the launcher works just fine.

Any suggestions???
thanks!

Ok, after now seems to work with the ":" as in the version 1.5. Not sure why it works now, ive tried the same settings several times without success.
Also, it still does not load with sun java 6. I am running Ubuntu Gutsy, 64 bit. So, I still cant use a launcher and I can only run it by right clicking and selecting to open with sun java 5. (I do have the permissions set to execute as a program) Is there something different in the java from version 1.5?

    thanks!

I just realized I can set it to always use sun java 5... never mind, momentary noob disease!

Hi, sorry for the late response and glad the remote is working now.

Just to double check, I'm looking at your settings for v2.0 and it's missing the startup channel:
    vlc pvr:// pvr-device=/dev/video1
    /dev/video1
    3
    n
    [Enter your startup channel here]

That might have caused the problem. Check this http://tvremote.sourceforge.net/documentation.php#example

Regarding Java 6 (64-bit), v2.0 uses the Standard Widget Tools 32-bit library which I think uses Java 5. I will be adding a new version of the remote that uses Java 6 with two packages for 32 and 64-bit systems.

Thanks for using CSMonkey TV Remote!

    TN
