I think in this case, it's best not to think of Linux as purely a desktop operating system - think of those people who are putting together media computers for their living rooms etc. (admitedly, I wouldn't think there are too many of these). After sitting around with some friends playing some TuxKart, it seems a shame to force them to get up and find the mouse inbetween games as opposed to staying where they are and setting up the next game with whatever input device they happen to be holding at the time. Obviously a joystick sucks as a pointing device, so joystick control should just cycle through options - controling a pointer with a joystick is a bad idea. |
