Hi.

The maintainer of TuxGuitar Debian package is unsure about the license for Magic Sound Font.

See discussion here: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=819332

The README reads "Contributed by Dennis Deutschmann".

Is it provided under the same license as the rest of the code (LGPL)?

Thanks.

    Hi,

Dennis allowed us redistribute the soundfont with tuxguitar
But he never mentioned anything about license, he only wanted to some credits

Maybe this file should be skipped from debian repositories.
It's not required to run tuxguitar. It's just a default config for tuxguitar-jsa.cfg and tuxguitar-fluidsynth.cfg files.

You could use fluid-soundfont-gm that is already in debian repositories

    Thank you for your answer.

I also think those fonts don't belong in Tuxguitar package.

It would be interesting to clarify the licence so that they can ship in a separate package, though.

I tested a few fonts and I settled on Magis Sound Font for now as it did a better job than the other ones.
