I'm submitting this to request that you allow Turck to
run in CGI mode even without shared memory support
(disk only configuration). This would be highly
valuable because it would allow people to distribute
compiled scripts that will run under CGI mode without
distributing the source. Currently several of the
common PHP panels chroot the user and use PHP as a CGI,
currently these users can not use Turck encoded
scripts. Also this prohibits the use of CGI to run as
other users with compiled scripts. People running in
CGI already accept a performance hit so the lack of
shared memory caching should not be important.

I don't plan to support acceleration in CGI mode, but you can
load encoded files with TurckLoader extension. It is a part of
Turck MMCache that can load encoded files and it can run in
    CGI or CLI mode.

What about adding disk only caching in order to save memory
in limited development enviroments at the cost of some
    performance loose?

I am referring to allow mmcache.shm_size="0" or ="-1"
allowint not to allocate any shared memory, and work only
    using disk.
