The zoom buttons from TightVNC are highly missed, especially when viewing a 2-monitor system from a one-monitor system.
If there were zoom buttons on the toolbar, and hotkeys, the process would be much more seemless.
I'm guessing that those buttons were added in TightVNC 2, because they definitely weren't in 1.3. What exactly do those buttons do? Seems like they would only make sense if they were tied to the scaling feature, but that feature is not enabled by default because it interferes with the automatic desktop resizing feature.

Yup, you're exactly right! The buttons are tied to the scaling feature. There's a zoom in, zoom out, zoom 100%, and there's an autoscale toggle button that toggles off if you hit one of the other 3. You're also right about it being in TightVNC 2. I haven't given 1.3 much attention in several years.

Hotkeys and corresponding system menu options for zooming in and out and resetting the zoom level have been implemented in the "dev" branch under GitHub. Any additional work, including integrating this into the toolbar, will require sponsorship of my labor and/or a code contribution.
Note that the zoom menu options and hotkeys will only be active if the desktop resizing mode is "Server" or "Manual" and if the scaling factor is not "Fixed Ratio."
Closing this tracker item as implemented. If the hotkeys prove insufficient and you still want this integrated into the toolbar, then please file it as an issue on GitHub (or as a Pull Request if you decide to develop it yourself.)
