Right thanks. It's better with libtool, though it
still complains very much.

Actually, we had the same problem using automake /
autoconf in our project (DSI), and ended by committing
the Makefile.in. You shouldn't really need it, but
it's really painfull when people don't have the same
auto* versions...
Now, I'm perhaps missing another point in building
trousers...
