I have a general question regarding the use of tripwire on a common shared virtual host.
Since I had some problems with people hacking into my server, I installed amongst other tools tripwire on the server.
But it looks like I cannot achieve a benefit from tripwire, because I also run cron-apt daily to keep the environment in an up-to-date state.
My problem is that the cron-apt execution keeps altering the system and I cannot supervise all incoming updates and changes and the tripwire reports are always filled with alerts and warnings.
So the question is if tripwire is only helpful in controlled lts environments with a change management or if the concepts of tripwire and cron-apt are just incompatible.
Thanks for your input.
Cheers calv
