"/sbin/chkfixed" does not recognize extended partitions.
It tests the "dmesg" output, may be:
Partition check:
hda: hda4
hdc: [PTBL] [621/128/63] hdc1 hdc2 < hdc5 hdc6 >
And then it takes every entry as a possible partition, including "<" or
"[PTBL]".
Testing the output of "fdisk -l" would be the better choice - including
the partition format.
Ok - if there is a CD-ROM, fdisk needs much time to recognize that there
is no CD inserted.
