My own response:
I tried it, but time failed to make X work.
I believe there is a graphical version of lynx that works without X. That
one I never tried. I'm not sure.

If you want all that fancy stuff, go with Knoppix. :)

Back in '99 (happy times) did actually have X 3.3.x running with evilwm,
but no X lately.

A better browser than lynx is links, which is available in the Trinux 
download site. It does better with frames etc.
