[Trinux-talk] wierd issues with 2.4.19 IDE kernel

When I attempt to boot trinux after replacing kernel image 2.4.5 with 2.4.19 
IDE it seems to mount something called rootfs and /dev/ram0 but then stops 
and says that linuxrc cannot create dirs because / is a read only file 
system? i've tried using the new and old initrd with different linuxrc files 
and it seems maybe it has something to do with the new kernel or 
something... i'm out of ideas... any help please?

Matt I added rw to every instance of initrd in the syslinux.cfg file and it 
booted fine with no errors, no problem... but when I check df for mounts it 
shows
rootfs
/dev/ram0

both mounted on root and with the same stats. does this pose a problem? and 
or could we just unmount rootfs and keep /dev/ram0?

They are the same thing -- I'm not exactly sure how it works, but this was
definitely a change from 2.4.18 to 2.4.19. I've been running these on
multiple systems (and the ISOs I released last month) and I haven't
encountered any problems.

I dug up some info on the wierdness and it seems that prior to kernel 
release v2.4.19-pre6 that rootfs made an alias of ramfs.
But kernel v2.4.19-pre6 fixes this.

Yes, this stumped me, too. Something changed in 2.4.19 with the initrd.

Modify the syslinux.cfg on the floppy -- add "rw" like this:

append initrd=initrd.gz root=/dev/ram0 rw
