Razell, I do not know why not using umout would frag your hard drive; however I can see how it could corrupt your files system. Do you have a the ability to do a cd install? If so try a bookable trinux iso cd, and use fdisk to reset you file system. You are not trying to boot to you hard drive; you are trying to use a ram installation so that you can repair you system.
