So I'm using Slackware 7.1 (which is probably 5-6 years old) which uses glibc2.1.3. Glib 2.2.x and 2.3.x are just too large. I have a user mode linux environment that I used to build packages. If you want a copy email me off line and I'll provide a URL (it will probably be 200-300mb) to download it. In 1998 I had the full blown X 3.3.6 running and in 2001 I was working on getting X 4.x. working but ran into some problems. Its entirely possibly get it working. However for a bootable X enivironment Knoppix or one of the derivatives is probably the best way to go. - mdf - mdf > Matt/Others, > > Thanks for the help so far, but I'm afraid I've run > into another couple of problems :/ > > Ive been building various packages on a Slackware 9.1 > box which compile fine, but when I add them to my > trinux iso they complain about libraries at run time, > for example: > > ../b: error in loading shared libraries:libcrypto.so.0 > can't open shared object file: No such file or > directory > > ../lsrtunnel: /lib/libc.so.6: version 'GLIBC_2.3' not > found (required by ./lsrtunnel) > > ../hydra: error in loading shared libraries: > libssl.so.0 can't opne shared object file: No such > file or directory > > Obviously this is a /lib problem - how do you develop > the libraries (I'm assuming that you don't just 'cp' > them from you dev box to the iso - I'll be honest I > haven't check the file sizes to see if this is the > case). > > Also (perhaps more of a general *nix question) I'm > confused as to my ./b fails in trinux because it > complains of libcrypto.so.0 and trinux has > libcrypto.so.1, as does my slackware 9 dev box and on > that I can run ./b fine. > > > Also has anyone looked at a X windows package?
