Sorry, I'm not very good debugging scripts
I suppose there must be something in linuxrc as you point out.-
Is there some other place in config that I could put:
insmod xxxx
ifconfig xxxx up

It *should* be possible to put this in the /tux/config/modules file
module.o paramaters
If you grep through the linuxrc file (for modules or insmod), you should be
able to verify it.
