Thank you for the prompt response.

The 8390 module was not loaded.  Loading it first then allowed me to
successfully load the ne2k-pci module.  Now ETH0 is available and can be
configured.

Is the 8390 module loaded? If not, try insmoding that first.

lsmod (or cat /proc/modules) should tell you what is loaded.
