What is the business case? Why do you need them? Multiple xterms is the
only reason I could come up with. Well maybe netdude or ethereal would be
cool as well. But if you can't do it from the command-line it shouldn't be
done.

I actually came "this" close to getting X4 working back in January,
but. If I every get it working (fixing the ISO issue is a higher
priority) Evilwm (http://evilwm.sourceforge.net) will be the default or
possibly blackbox.
