A boot floppy for 0.80pre1 has been released and should be available at the following locations: ftp://download.sourceforge.net/pub/sourceforge/trinux/ http://www.io.com/~mdfranz/trinux/boot-images/ and probably by the time you read this in the other mirrors: http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/trinux/latest/boot/ etc. Why did Trinux reach 0.8x? - Remote package loading via FTP/HTTP (multiple servers are allowed) - Local package loading from hard disk filesytems (NTFS, FAT, EXT2) as well as slow floppies - Remote management via SSH - Remote monitoring via syslog, SMTP (including PGP), and CDP - Virtual workspaces (ability to load/save a "home" directory from/to FTP/SSH servers) - Support for NFS client - Perl, Python, PHP - A complete set of kernel modules (http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/trinux/latest/kernel/) - Many many new packages (see below) - Improved documentation (most of these new features are documented *somewhere* on the web site) See http://trinux.sourceforge.net/tools.html for a (nearly) comprehensive list of packages that are now available at: http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/trinux/latest/pkg/ All of these packages should work with 0.7x. Assuming there are no major problems, the only thing holding up a final release is the completion of documentation. |
