Glad to greet the authors of Trigger Rally!

...I spend quite a long time thinking should I write here o not and now I do.
Firstly I want to say great Thanks for T.R. - playing your game and mostly tackling with my own track helps me don't lost my mind since war came in my countryside and I was forced to leave where I lived.
Against this backdrop, I thought for quite a long whether to write here or not, so as not to seem like an empty spammer.

In other side, maybe some my opinion with testing game and some kind of design work can afford you to improve this product and put it some more up.

    I love autosimulators.
Well, really in my "previous" life I like bicycle. I mat computer when I was rather adult.
But sometimes I liked to play games when it was no possibility to get outside to ride. I those times was no fatbike, so in winter I mostly sat at home.)

Since 2002 I time to time go back and play my old autosimulators. It helps me not to forget what I was like in my youth, what I dreamed of and how I first discovered the world of computer racing.

...The Trigger Rally was opened to me by my new friend, which drag me to linux. Few years we had to work together in one of universities in our town, getting to a work by bicycles and travel around the city when work was finished.
And in 2019 then we unexpectedly found a forest, so to speak, in the middle of the city, which was hidden from the world among abandoned industrial enterprises. To 23.02.2022 we make MTB track throw the bushes and in december 2020 I decided to took care for this place - move away rubbish, make some forester work with trees, which mostly are a fruit and garden plants, getting wild.

Last sommer, when we talking with my friend and remembering how we "worked in forest" (I namd it like that), he notice me about T.R., that we can to play some race to have some rest and stop think about bad things.
And then, when I taked him some wishes about improving some tracks, my friend notice me, that T.R. - open source game.
In this moment, after small modes of plugin-tracks in Trigger I thought to try make the model of our forest in this simulator. I read instructions how make tracks, than made some first steps in work with height of landscape, roads, foliage and.. I get trigget!

...So, great thanks for your work. During playing T.R. and tackling with "my forest" I had to fell that it start to be like a little world fo me, where I can apply my love to some kind of travel, foresting and living-up some my dreams.

P.S. My learning English was wery far and I had never been best student. And to use google translater every minute is boring, i think.)

So you have to read some broken english when I some time have appear in some threads, hope it will be fun for you. But please don't kidding.)

Fortinately, my level premiss me to understand most discussions here.

    Hello!

First of all, thanks for sharing. It's nice to see how a game has been a source of comfort and escape during such challenging times.

And that's the beauty of open-source, as the game code is here and you can do with it whatever you want. Nice to see your model of the forest!

And by the way, your English is fine and readable, don't worry about it at all :)

I also want to thank the Trigger Rally authors and contributors. For the first time I have been able to see a proper 3D racing game running nicely on my 17-year-old PC without any hassle, and no bugs so far playing it for 2 years. Congratulations!

    Thanks, Antoni!

Must say that work with this track is not yet completed. I shared It when finished.
I started make it on June 25th.
The first thing I did was set the heights of the terrain and the road in two separate layers. It seemed like a long time for me, but the real tackling began when it came time to set the colors of the area and "plant" the vegetation. Then height had been need to corrected also.
Now I'm almost done with the coloring, but I still have to adjust the placement of vegetation much precision and set the properties of the surfaces is t.png.

I used extended 1024x1024 files for this track to achieve better smoothing of color borders and smoothness of the road surface (Program blurfilter also used maxima).
Cause I was making a forest, I had to borrow a lot of trees from free pictures.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to use the genius trick that Onsemeliot did in the Dark Forest - using the height of the terrain to create tree trunks.

Due to extended terrain files and a huge number of trees, my track takes much longer to load - 5..7 seconds... And during race my office desktop with an integrated video card slows down noticeably.
So, most likely, not everyone will like my "hand-craft".
But I could not reduce the number of trees - it would no longer be forest.)

With any luck, I plan to make a few more replicas of real motocross tracks and country roads from my area. Perhaps there will be less problems with them - not so much vegetation will be required.

Ho Xandr and Antoni, sorry for not answering quicker. I have my hands full of work and studying at the moment. So I can't spare much time. But it is nice to see that there are still people caring about the game.
I myself also mainly ended up getting involved in Trigger Rally because my dated hardware wasn't able to handle other fun racing games.
Xandr, are you aware that you could make intense foliage only closely around the areas where people are supposed to drive through? This way it is usually much less demanding on the hardware and if people don't go to far off the track it will still look the same. (If people aren't trying to stay on track then they aren't starting the game for racing anyway.)
I am looking forward to test your map(s). :)

Halo, Onsemeliot! Glad to hear you.

Yes, I trying place foliage mostly around track. I know, that it is a "canonical" trick to make graphics less heavy. And I already decrease vegetation areas several times.)

Now I "plant" trees along the routes "manually" in level-file, using <roadsign> tag coas gray8 gradation in f.png is to less for make different plants areas without sudden 'stranges' who grew up where they were not planted. And if to make winter variation of same track using foliage map, vegetation will travel away due algorithm place trees randomly and depended of width of they images - bold trees will be much narrow and drive out.

Few days ago I mostly finished colorize ground (maybe it will need to add some touch of 'painter' brush later). And now it should to 'plant' trees and road signs (I very like they).
After that I will be available to share test version of track.

My friend had decide to tackling with cars - he drag in 0.6.6 version few old ones and used some vehicles models published here by Joshua. He tackling mostly with car behavior to make it more compromise with reality and 'arcade' in game realization.

Thanks to the authors, I'm work around some cars and backward drive wheels. Game need some work about scale of maps and surrounding. I saw that cars are too small in a scale that why they controls too hard, They have unreal gearboxes i were correct this too.
