I installed transcriber from the ubuntu repositories the version is listed as 1.5.1.1-3

I am trying to use this program on Ubuntu 9.10, and when attempting to play the audio file (standard mp3 format) I get the error message: 'could not gain access to /dev/sound/dsp for writing'

All other features I have tried so far work ok, and my sound works fine for all other applications I have used, eg movie player and rhythm box etc.

I have the same problem, with the same log as Sovsigryden,
could you please be more thorough with your two answers?
I am really noobie and have no idea where to try them.

Hi Mathieu, open a terminal, how to do that strongly depends on your distro/version (google it), then type the two words and press <return>. The transcriber program should start. In Ubuntu, you can also do it by creating a custom command from the menu, using the given commands in the "command" field, thus, you get a "clickable" version to start transcriber.</return>
