Storing the categorie and the MAC into the DB, too.
The categories would be the easiest and interesting
part of the new fields. This field would allow to
distinguish between e.g. internal or external traffic
in a net. More comfortable would be an extra field
could e.g. type. One or more categories could be in one
type of traffic (internal/external).
The MAC would be for security reasons to find persons,
who try to cheat Traff.

The addition of the category field would be very useful in
certain situations. Mine in particular.
I have about 150 customer machines on a single LAN
seperated from the internet by a single firewall that is not
capable of traffic accounting. Some of the customers have
more than one machine and I run backups for most of them
from a machine on the local LAN, it would be nice to be able to
exclude local LAN traffic, or to account for whether or not that
traffic is internal or external. Otherwise it is neccessary for me
to put the accounting box on the outside interface of the
firewall.
Possibly even an exclude local option in the configuration file
could be used to exclude traffic that both the source and
destination are on the same network.
