I had a problem like this due to the frame rate (FR). I notice
that the FR was dropping. I change the code to try and keep
the FR at 50; this fixed the problem.
I was using a AMD 1.4, 515DDR-RAM, 30Gb HDD, Nvidia GF4.
If I played the game in a small window then the game play
was smooth. (graphics driver problem?)
