1st: you are using the version which now only exists in the CVS.
2nd: the service is starting slower than expected.
Solution:
Get the newest version from CVS. That version waits for the service to start and connects then without prompting. (It still can't display values before the service is up).

I have been using tpfancontrol for 2 weeks on T42 Windows XP SP3 with good results.
Occasionally after reboot I receive an error message "service not up and running". Retry does cure the problem.
Any suggestions?
