The ToxMLRedact tool is designed to expedite the process of sharing chemical/ toxicity data with external collaborators. It allows the user to check for presence of trade names in the input ToxML files, replace them with a generic phrase, redact fields containing confidential information, and generate a single compiled ToxML file as output. This file can then be reviewed manually for presence of residual trade names before sharing it with the collaborators. The tool also generates a csv (Comma-Separated Values) file as output with records of all fields where trade names were found and replaced. This helps to preserve the transparency of the tool's automated data screening process. The script for this tool is written in Python and needs Python version 2.7 for its execution. Download the zip file and extract its files into a single folder on your computer and execute the 'data_redaction_tool_gui.pyw' file to begin the data redaction process.

The development of ToxMLRedact tool was supported in part by an appointment to the Research Participation Program at the Office of Food Additive Safety, CFSAN, U.S. Food and Drug Administration, administered by the Oak Ride Institute for Science and Education through an interagency agreement between the Department of Energy and FDA.
