Big status update. No more SVM nor overloaded colision management.
Simple Virtual Machine was replaced by Reverse Notation VM. It's based on bytecode too, but includes:
- basic OOP support
classes, methods (only static for now)
- integrated compiler
loading/compiling on the fly
- runtime type checking
can be turned off to speed up
Toxic's colisions was really hard to do them right. Now they work perfectly. I'm polishing up toxic & RNVM APIs to merge them in a working game. There is a lot of work to do:... read more
Toxic core correctly recognizes tile/collison events. It passed all tests. Now it's a time to make good use of it (Object level events with script language)
Collision Manager finally works (A2 will work). Toxic probably will be using a postscript like language
I'm developing new Toxic core. It's a rewrite of prototype with some project fixes (eg Event handling become better and better;).
To much work at University.... but I really want relase IT someday
Move resolver was tested tougthly. It was tested with 30.000 moving objects and showed no problems.
However, event system is not perfect. I'm developing real event based system now.
I'm merging Toxic's subsystems. Events + Move Resolver + SVM = Toxic. (NO, this is not mean that Toxic will be finished soon :)
I have little problems with Events system but this is nothing special.
Anyway, my friend will help me in making better SVMC (java like).
I have worked with MoveResolver last days. This is a core of Toxic. It calcualtes collisions and some other events related to object's move.
It works nice now, but it isn't perfect (yet:)
Dreams come true... Simple Virtual Machine component for Toxic is ready. Only minor changes left.
The graphics component is developed right now. I even wrote a simple game in SVM language...
Christmas is sweet (for me, and for my project)
Merry Christmas
I'm developing resource manager for SVM.
It provides simple resource (like graphics) attachments with SVM scripts
So.. svm/svmc works. ASTM module will manage animation & sound trough SDL.
First program written in Simple Virtual Machine assebmbly is working.
SVMC generates code *.svmasm -> *.svm, and SVM executes it.
Now I have to polish svm/svmc.
Simple Virtual Machine is working. I have started svmc (a simply compilator). It will not have many features but it will work :). It will be released as separate package.
For now there is a lot unanswered question (for example about SVM language), so documentation will be avaible on project site.
Project www site will be avaible as soon as work at planing will be done.
Only basic for now. Now I'm tring to make a dynamic module loader and some cleanups.
BTW soon talented level designer will join to the project
I have been on holidays. Ok..., now the formal speech.
Low level SVM memory manager is done (coded). I'm coding high level manager now. SVM will support many types of memory access.
BTW If U have are any Toxic related question, just ask tokugawa@users.sf.net
The Simple Virtual Machine is now under development. It's a one of biggest subsystem for Toxic. It can be used for other projects too.
Objects will react more physically. Their movements will be calculate from various forces.
The basic of MoveResolver module is planned. I'm working on the details now.
