Hi Renju, I am using the cygwin environment (www.cygwin.com) which comes with the gnu compiler collection (gcc) - works fine, as long a you install it completely. Compiling Towhee then just works fine as described on the homepage. As far as I understand mingw is a different branch of GNU, which does not necessarily provide a complete development environment (but I might be mistaken). I also had some headache in using it for compiling even the simplest sources, so I simply skipped using it. I know for sure that some colleagues of mine succeeded compiling Towhee with the MS Visual tools (come with a fortran compiler as well). But tweaking paths was necessary there, too. The Intel Fortran compiler works well, too, although I'd prefer the GNU Tools (even if Towhee runs some seconds longer when compiled with it). If possible, use some Linux as the base (preferably Debian ;-) ) or, even better, FreeBSD (runs extremely stable). Might hurt in the beginning, but it pays off. Thema Re: [Towhee-users] Antwort: MCCCS on Windows Hello Frank, All, Im trying to install MCCCS on windows: Upon running ./configure i get the error no acceptable compiler found in path. I used to free c compilers available : MinGW and LCC Win32. Set the path in environment variables accordingly. Still no luck. Can you tell me what the problem is? or is there a set of acceptable c compilers? thanks a lot in advance, Renju fra...@ba... wrote: > Hi Renju, > > at times I run towhee on a Windows notebook (at least for testing purposes) > using the cygwin environment.
