ToSpeak 0.2 pre-alpha released

ToSpeak 0.2 pre-alpha has been released. This release has some important fixes in it, such as eliminating duplicate choices and kana translation errors.

However, this is still a pre-release, so errors are to be expected. There is still a slight problem with duplicate choices that will be fixed in the next release.

ToSpeak 0.1 pre-alpha released

The initial release of ToSpeak 0.1 pre-alpha has been made available. Functionality is limited to Japanese kana flashcards, but the user does have the option of switching between hiragana, katakana, and all kana. Give it a try and see what you think.

Database decided - XML / JAXB

I have decided to use XML and JAXB (Java Architecture for XML Binding) to handle the database. Why? A few reasons. XML is widely used and supported on almost all platforms, which is a definite plus for this project. Building an interface for adding and editing language content shouldn't be too difficult. JAXB seems like a very nice architecture as well.
