Good evening, I was trying to change some stuff on libs/client, I managed to compile it but it crashes TORCS when I try to start a race or select a track, etc. Even without changing anything in the code it crashes, and also the compiled client.dll is bigger with 1166 KB instead of 988 KB like the one that comes installed. I'm using VC++ 2008 Express, and TORCS 1.3.8-test1. What could be causing the crash? I don't get any messages, it just closes to the desktop. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance |

As for the editing itself, it's pretty easy, as the labels in the XML files are usually self-explanatory, provided you just want to make the kinds of changes you mention. There's some other stuff you can do that's a bit more complicated. But the length of the races is labeled "distance", the number of driver goes under "maximum drivers" and so on. I'd just advise you to copy the original file as a backup, just in case you screw something up by accident. Mind you, though, if you copy, say, champ.xml to oldchamp.xml and put it in the same folder, you'll end up with *two* different championships (although I *thinbk* you'd need to change the name of one of them on the xml file as well) to choose from. I actually just need these parameters: geometry, CoG, mass, inertia, wishbone joints, spring-damper coeffs; and the mathematical equations of tire force and torque. I understand there are probably hundreds of cars. Having one typical specimen would be nice. I can work with DAE as well as with ODE. Hi everyone. So, COVID happened, I suddenly had a lot of free time on my hands, due to the impact the economic slump is having on my job, and decided to do something I had been planning to do for a long time, never finding the time to actually do it: to make a few tracks based on some street layouts and maybe on the topography in the vicinity of my house, figuring it would be fun to race in "streets" I know more or less well. But then I hit a wall: the track editor seems not to be working, and I can't figure out why. It makes the tracks (or rather, the track, as I only made the simplest one so far), it exports the xml, but when I try to export the ac3 file, nothing happens. There are a bunch of warnings on the CMD window, but those appear as soon as I click on some menu, not while trying to export. Hello there, I hope that you are doing well. When I played Torcs for the first time, I just didn't like one thing: the people that were there in the game. I would have liked the game very much if there were no people in it. When I start racing, I see all of those people looking. I don't like it. Also, I think that it also results in slower performance. I would like to suggest that you should make a new version of the game in which there are no people or you can create a different version of the game. Please do something about it. All the best! Hello, I am having a lot of trouble trying to just install TORCS. When I type ./configure into the terminal, I am told, "configure: error: Can't find plib/ssg.h. Hi! I'm trying to record engine sound for a new car for a quick customer demo - it looks like there is one basic engine sound per car that loops and has it's replay frequency adjusted for RPM and another for the turbo? Then a bunch of more generic sounds for other effects. I also see that there is a XML record which points to the .wav file(s) and has an "rpm scale" - which seems to be in the range 1.0 to 2.0 for existing cars - so it looks like it's just for minor tweaking. But it's not clear at what RPM Torcs assumes the recording was made - or where you tell it what that RPM is. What am I missing here? Help! Good afternoon, I have been working on getting started with torcs and i've run into a plethora of issues actually getting setup both with windows 10 and ubuntu 18.04. Such as having linker issues with VS 2017, and returning errors when running make and make install with ubuntu. So my question is, what is a good source to look at for properly setting up torcs and being able to program in it in either of these Operating Systems? I've looked at a large amount of sources already and have had little to no luck. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance |

Dear community, i am trying to install torcs 1.3.6, based on the „MADRaS“ repository here https://github.com/madras-simulator/MADRaS/tree/Version1. Despite the repository, I guess that the installation is commonly known as cd torcs-1.3.6/ ./configure make sudo make install sudo make datainstall I am also avoiding the isnan error by substituting this with std::isnan. Then I am following the installation guide and while the „make“ command is being executed, I am encountering the following: [cid:76881AEB-474F-4A4D-8386-C1EC9D0CD32F@box] First, I ignored the errors, Error 1 and Error 2 and just continued the installation. After this, I tried „torcs“ in another shell but it is prompted that the command „torcs“ is not found… So I guess the reason for this are the errors? Or did I forget some other packages to install? I also tried other torcs repositories but it did not work, so I stick with the actual MADRaS repository since I wanted to incorporate in my work multiple driving vehicles and thus multiple clients. I am becoming really desperate and helpless and searching the web did not bring me further… I would really appreciate any help here! Best wishes, Robert |
