[Torcs-users] torcs compilation problem

I sent this once already, but I don't think it got there.

I installed TORCS using apt-get, and it worked fine. I now wish to develop 
robot(s), so I am installing it from source, as berniw's tutorial says to. I 
typed ./configure and it says:

checking for XOpenDisplay in -lX11... no
configure: error: Can't find libX11. Please check config.log and if you can't 
solve the problem send the file to tor...@li... with the 
subject "torcs compilation problem"

So I go away to install libx11-dev, but it appears that I've already got it. 
What shall I do?
