I've been testing out the insert saved query tool and here is some feedback: I have my saved queries in a directory of .sql files (from golden, quite frankly!). Loading each one and then saving them using the save current query button is quite cumbersome. I tried writing a perl script to munge the contents of the directory (including subdirectories and scripts in subdirectories) into .torasql but ran into 2 problems: first, .torasql can't store comments starting with -- and second, tora chokes on some perfectly legit characters which I haven't been able to figure out yet, ignoring all of the .torasql file after that character. I'm wondering if this tool can be adapted to point to a directory of .sql files instead of just reading sql from .torasql? The difference would be that its way easier to navigate and keep a directory of individual files current than maintain it from within tora. The other thing we need is a warning / dialog box before replacing the current worksheet, much like the 'open saved query' dialog box. speaking of the 'open saved query' tool, anybody else annoyed with the way it always defaults to the ~ directory intead of the last used directory? The 'open saved query' tool is cumbersome to navigate with compared to the insert saved query tool, so its not an option for this purpose.. I'm willing to help with any of the coding for the above if you all agree these suggestions are valid.. If I can get the 'favourites' tool working as suggested with a windows build, I can immediately get atleast another 10 testers on board from my company, all DBA's who would use the tool daily.. cheers! --Raj. |
