I have sucessfully used UTF-8 Kanji characters inside erc via bitlbee, (with Pidgin as the other client) using jabber and oscar protocol, so I'm wondering if this is just a limitation of the TOC 2.x protocol, or TNT, or am I missing something? There is some talk on the Miranda IM forums of "TOC 3" (http://forums.miranda-im.org/showthread.php?p=29010) protocol, but I'm not sure if that person just made a typo.

There hasn't been all that much work on TNT in the past few years,
full stop. There's likely better ways to handle things now, but I'm
not sure how many of the "developers" are still actively using it.
That being said, I'm happy to hand the keys to the sourceforge project
over to someone who has more of a stake in the software.
