tk8.3.4 unix/README reads (line 28):
"(a) Make sure that the Tcl 8.3 release is present in the directory ../../tcl8.3"

This doesn't work. I have used Tcl 8.3 release tcl 8.3.4 and named the directory tcl8.3 and compilation error resulted in tk. There should probably be:

"(a) Make sure that the Tcl 8.3.x release is present in the directory ../../tcl8.3.x"

    1) This is a Tk bug. Should be filed
    with the tktoolkit project, not tcl.

    2) This bug was already fixed for
    the Tk 8.4.2 release.

    This bug was filed in the Tk tracker. Hence the problem is
    out-of-date, not invalid. :^)
