Hello! tkdiff runs fine locally on my macOS 11 iMac. But if I connect to that machine remotely via ssh, I type tkdiff and it appears to be running (no new prompt) but its window never appears. All other X11 programs (xeyes, xlogo etc etc) all display back correctly so it's not an X11 issue. Any suggestions welcome. Thank you.
A bit more info:
tkdiff is using about 6% cpu so it's doing something.
no network activity at all between the two systems.
First, how did you get X11 forwarding from Mac to Linux to work? I can't get past "X11 forwarding request failed on channel 0"
Second, just to rule out the simple things, are you sure tkdiff on the Mac is running with the X11 version of wish instead of the Aqua one? I have to adjust my PATH depending on which one I want.
Problem solved. Seems my wish uses aqua, not X11. To fix I installed tcl and tk from macports:
sudo port install tcl tk
then all was well.
Thanks everyone, take care.
