I am working on several pages of the site that already have normal content and stable traffic, but for important queries they constantly lag behind competitors. I do not want to completely rewrite these materials, since they respond well to visitors' queries and already have a history. When analyzing the results, I noticed that competitive pages have significantly more thematic mentions in already published materials of other sites. What option would you consider first to work with such pages to get an additional boost without creating another article from scratch?

When the content itself is solid but struggling to outrank stronger competitors, leaning on the authority of aged, indexed posts is often the safest move to get a noticeable bump. Reaching out to webmasters to strategically buy niche edits lets you insert contextual links straight into existing, well-performing articles without waiting for new content to age. This method passes immediate link juice and topical relevance, giving your stuck pages that extra push they need to climb the SERP.
