Hi all, Last gift for today... *<|:-) The tinyTiM project proudly announces the availability of a new Map I/O release for the tinyTiM Topic Maps 2.0 engine. The package can be downloaded here: <https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=102341&package_id=109878> The Map I/O package adds de-/serialization support of several Topic Maps syntaxes and non-Topic Maps syntaxes to tinyTiM. Map I/O supports reading of: * XTM (1.0 / 2.0) * CTM * JTM (experimental) * TM/XML * LTM 1.3 * N3 * N-Triples * RDF/XML * TriG reader * TriX reader * Turtle reader Further this package can write: * XTM (1.0 / 2.0) * CXTM * JTM (experimental) To get started with tinyTiM / tinyTiM Map I/O, read the docs: <http://tinytim.sourceforge.net/docs/2.0/> (work in progress) or ask questions at our mailing list: <http://tinytim.sourceforge.net/mailinglist> Features / Changes * Introduced TopicMapReader / TopicMapWriter interfaces * Added dedicated, syntax-specific TopicMapReader implementations: - XTM reader which supports 1.0 and 2.0 - XTM 1.0 reader (does not support mergeMap) - XTM 2.0 reader - CTM reader which implements draft dtd. 2008-05-15 (does not suppot %include and %mergemap) - JTM reader - TM/XML - Snello - LTM 1.3 * Introduced a RDFTopicMapReader interface * Added RDF reader implementations: - N3 reader - N-Triples reader - RDF/XML reader - TriG reader - TriX reader - Turtle reader * Moved CXTMWriter into .mio package, implements TopicMapWriter * CXTMWriter does not normalize datatype locators anymore (this is not in the current CXTM draft but becomes part of the next draft) * JSON Topic Maps (JTM) writer * XML Topic Maps (XTM) 1.0 writer * XML Topic Maps (XTM) 2.0 writer * Deprecated some TopicMapImporter methods which take a sax.InputSource as argument * Added docs to TopicMapImporter that it may become deprecated And since it is Saint Nicholas (at least in Germany) we do not forget our poor TMAPI 1.0 users which rely on tinyTiM 1.5: Here is your version of the Map I/O (less features than Map I/O 2.0, though): <https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=102341&package_id=300554> More information, the tinyTiM Topic Maps engine itself and the docs can be found at: <http://tinytim.sourceforge.net/> Best regards, Lars -- Semagia <http://www.semagia.com> |

[...] > I checked in a JTMTopicMapReader to support reading of JSON TopicMaps BTW, the JTMTopicMapReader uses the Streaming Topic Maps API directly. While the other readers utilize deserialisers from the semagia.mio package, the JTMTopicMapReader uses the MapHandler (resp. TinyTimMapInputHandler) directly. If you want an example how the streaming API works, look into the source of the JTMTopicMapReader. :) Best regards, Lars -- Semagia <http://www.semagia.com> |

Hi all, I checked in a JTMTopicMapReader to support reading of JSON TopicMaps and committed several RDF topic map readers. Further, a new interface RDFTopicMapReader which is derived from TopicMapReader. The JTMTopicMapReader needs json_simple.jar in the classpath. All RDFTopicMapReaders need "semagia-mio-0.9.3.jar", "semagia-mio-rdf-0.9.3.jar", and "openrdf-sesame-2.2.1-onejar.jar" in the classpath. The current set of TopicMap(Reader|Writer)s define the final set for the next .mio release. In the following days I'll fix some bugs, if any and write some docs etc. Here an excerpt from my draft how to use the RDF readers: tinyTiM is able to import several RDF syntaxes using the `RDF to Topic Maps (RTM) <http://www.ontopia.net/topicmaps/materials/rdf2tm.html>`_ mapping vocabulary. The actual mapping may either be defined within the RDF file which should be deserialized or, more commonly, by an external RDF source. Each RDF ``TopicMapReader`` provides several ``setMappingSource`` methods to specify the source to read the acutal mapping from. If no external mapping source was defined, the reader assumes that the mapping is part of the main RDF source. The following example assumes that the mapping is defined within the main RDF source ``rdfSource``:: import org.tinytim.mio.TopicMapReader; import org.tinytim.mio.N3TopicMapReader; File rdfSource = new File("http://tinytim.sf.net/example.n3"); // It is assumed that a org.tmapi.core.TopicMap is given TopicMapReader reader = new N3TopicMapReader(tm, rdfSource); reader.read(); Usually the mapping source is different from the main RDF source. If an external mapping should be defined, one of the ``setMappingSource`` method can be used:: import org.tinytim.mio.RDFTopicMapReader; import org.tinytim.mio.N3TopicMapReader; File rdfSource = new File("http://tinytim.sf.net/example.n3"); RDFTopicMapReader reader = new N3TopicMapReader(tm, rdfSource); reader.setMappingSource("http://tinytim.sf.net/the-mapping.n3"); reader.read(); The mapping source may use a different syntax than the main RDF source. All ``RDFTopicMapReader``s try to detect the mapping source syntax by its file extension. If the syntax cannot be detected, RDF/XML is assumed. The following example reads a RDF source using RDF/XML and utilises a mapping encoded in N-Triples:: import org.tinytim.mio.RDFTopicMapReader; import org.tinytim.mio.RDFXMLTopicMapReader; File rdfSource = new File("http://tinytim.sf.net/example.rdf"); RDFTopicMapReader reader = new RDFXMLTopicMapReader(tm, rdfSource); reader.setMappingSource("http://tinytim.sf.net/the-mapping.nt"); reader.read(); It is also possible to specify the syntax of the mapping source explicitly:: import org.tinytim.mio.RDFTopicMapReader; import org.tinytim.mio.RDFXMLTopicMapReader; import static org.tinytim.mio.RDFTopicMapReader.MappingSyntax; File rdfSource = new File("http://tinytim.sf.net/example.rdf"); RDFTopicMapReader reader = new RDFXMLTopicMapReader(tm, rdfSource); reader.setMappingSource("http://tinytim.sf.net/the-mapping.nt"); reader.setMappingSourceSyntax(MappingSyntax.NTRIPLES); reader.read(); Best regards, Lars -- Semagia <http://www.semagia.com> |

Hi all, I added an experimental JSON Topic Maps (JTM) writer to .mio 2.0. Unfortunately JTM was never specified formally, so this writer was implemented based on examples found at <http://www.cerny-online.com/topincs/> and based on the initial paper [1]. The writer will not be ported back to 1.5, so the set of writers for 1.5 and 2.0 is different now. Further, the XTM writers offer a method to specify if the XML should be prettified or not (default: prettify), see XTM(10|20)TopicMapWriter.setPrettify(boolean). The XML is written into one line if prettifying is disabled. [1] <http://www.cerny-online.com/documents/Topincs%20-%20A%20RESTful%20Web%20Service%20Interface%20for%20Topic%20Maps%20(Paper).pdf> Best regards, Lars -- Semagia <http://www.semagia.com> |

Hi all, Since I got some questions regarding the dependencies of the tinytim.mio package, here an overview what's needed if you want to work with the tinytim.mio package: The writers have no dependency on external libs: - CXTMTopicMapWriter - XTM10TopicMapWriter - XTM20TopicMapWriter The readers need at minimum "semagia-mio-0.9.3.jar" and "slf4j-api-1.5.6.jar" plus a SLF4J implementation, i.e. "slf4j-jdk14-1.5.6.jar" Further dependencies: - CTMTopicMapReader: - semagia-mio-snello-0.9.3.jar - semagia-mio-ctm-draft-2008-05-15-0.9.3.jar *or* semagia-mio-ctm-working-draft-2008-11-19-0.9.3.jar - LTMTopicMapReader: semagia-mio-ltm-0.9.3.jar - SnelloTopicMapReader: semagia-mio-snello-0.9.3.jar - TMXMLTopicMapReader: semagia-mio-tmxml-0.9.3.jar and if you want to enable "validation" (disabled by default) - jing.jar - XTM10TopicMapReader XTM20TopicMapReader XTMTopicMapReader: semagia-mio-xtm-0.9.3.jar and if you want to enable "validation" (disabled by default) - jing.jar Example: So, if you just want to read LTM topic maps and you'll never use CTM, XTM, TM/XML, and Snello, you need the the following libs in your classpath: - semagia-mio-0.9.3.jar - slf4j-api-1.5.6.jar - slf4j-jdk14-1.5.6.jar - semagia-mio-ltm-0.9.3.jar There is no need to keep the other libs in the classpath because they are discovered at runtime. You'll get a runtime error if you try to use the SnelloTopicMapReader without the appropriate lib, though. Best regards, Lars -- Semagia <http://www.semagia.com> |

[...] > So, tinyTiM MIO for 1.5 has currently the same set of > TopicMapWriters/TopicMapReaders as 2.0. And they share the same API. > It should make no difference if you're working with the > TopicMapReaders/Writers under 1.5 or 2.0. This statement has lead to some confusion. tinyTiM 1.5 and tinyTiM 2.0 are completely different Topic Maps engines, so tinytim.mio built with "ant -f build-15.xml" DOES NOT work with tinyTiM 2.0.0. If you want a tinytim.mio version which works with the current release (2.0.0a3) or the snapshot in the trunk (2.0.0a4) you have to build it via ant build.xml or simply ant The API for the writers / readers is the same, but the implementation differs at some points. Hi all, Since TMAPI 2.0 will change some things (at least for working with Locators) I came to the conclusion that I'll delay an official release of tinyTiM 2.0 (a4) and the tinyTiM .mio (2.0 a4) until next week. Once the tmapi.Locator issues are resolved and a new TMAPI 2.0 version is out, I'll release the above mentioned packages. In the meantime you can compile snapshot versions from trunk. If you need help or if you want pre-build snapshots, write me a note. Further, I'll delay the next 1.5 .mio release even if TMAPI 1.0 is stable. Maybe the .mio package will get new TopicMapReaders to import RDF and I think it makes no sense to release 1.5 .mio now (without the possibility to import RDF) and make another release next week (maybe with RDF import). If you need a new 1.5 .mio version, build a snapshot or ask me for help. Best regards, Lars -- Semagia <http://www.semagia.com> |

Hi all, > I do not plan to backport the writers, unless there is a high > demand. Even if not planned I added writers for XTM 1.0 / 2.0 which work for tinyTiM 1.5. :) Further, I moved the org.tinytim.cxtm.Canonicalizer to the .mio package (for 1.5). So, tinyTiM MIO for 1.5 has currently the same set of TopicMapWriters/TopicMapReaders as 2.0. And they share the same API. It should make no difference if you're working with the TopicMapReaders/Writers under 1.5 or 2.0. If you want to try out the new 1.5 .mio package, check out mio/trunk and use ant -f build-15.xml to compile a snapshot. Best regards, Lars -- Semagia <http://www.semagia.com> |

Hi all, The tinyTiM project proudly announces the availability of a new release of the tinyTiM Topic Maps engine. This release contains one bugfix. You can download it from tinyTiM's project page <http://tinytim.sourceforge.net/> <http://tinytim.sourceforge.net/1.5/download/> Note: The 1.5 branch will not be developed further (only bugs will be fixed) because TMAPI 2.0 is nearly finished. If you need a TMAPI 2.0 compatible Topic Maps engine use tinyTiM 2.0.0: <http://tinytim.sourceforge.net/2.0/download/> Feedback is welcome! :) Best regards, Lars -- Semagia <http://www.semagia.com> |
