TinyPerl is a very small version of the last release of Perl. It can be called as "Perl on a floppy" or an alternative to publish your applications. If you want only the basics of Perl and don't want to download 10+Mb, this is the option.

  • After a nightmare of trying to get a handful of other big distros to produce an executable so that I could pack a simple script that threw PDF reports from a business partner into Poppler for text stripping and then process the text into useful data, I finally found tinyperl. Perfect for my simple needs, the executable part works, but given it still needs the dlls, using the tiny folder just as a portable perl with a batch script is better. I can't believe the full distros don't have an easier micro-distribution option. This project (including the libzip possibility) is too awesome to forget about.
