Out of the 5 mentioned in my previous post, some
of the ATMega 163L motes behave in the following manner...
1. If i install cnt_to_leds or sens_to_rfm or
any other application, using
make duke install
synonymous to "make rene install"
2. The process completes without any errors...
but nothing happens subsequently...i.e
In cnt_to_leds: the LEDs DO NOT FLASH
In sens_to_rfm: the Base Station does not
receive messages...
One common property of all these failed motes is
that
"When you flip the battery switch from OFF to ON,
the red LED (which normally flashes for some microseconds signifying that the mote has been
reset) DOES NOT flash at all...which means the
mote seems to be "DEAD"....
Please let me know if theres any way to recover
from this...thanks,
jags

The bad news is that we don't have any certain solution. The good news is that we have some thoughts:
Paraphrased from an email from Phil Levis:
- If it suddenly happened with all 5 motes, it might be a problem with the programming board. I've had flash errors like this before, and often it's the result of not firmly putting the mote on the board, but we note that you
seem to have done this enough times that reseating probably is not the issue.
- Resetting the chip, etc., is a reasonable thing to do.
- The combination of it suddenly happening to all 5 with the fact that all
of the flash readings are 0 make me think it's either a faulty programming
board or the parallel cable connection is loose.
The curious thing is that the littleguy
can be programmed..
I hope that this helps. If you do find what
happened, please post your solution.
