I have been quite busy over the last few weeks trying to get the timetable generation screen finished. I would say that it is 90% there. There are a few outstanding issues but those aside I'm quite happy with it. I will look at the outstanding issues, some will be implemented other will have to wait for future releases. I am also working on the User Manual, currently on SVN under documentation, when that is completed I will release it. Comments welcome! My input to the project will be much reduced over the next couple of months because of work commitments. My access to email and the Internet may also be limited because of my travelling requirements however I hope to be able to connect each day, so please if anyone does have questions just send them in. cheers, graeme. |

Grame, No problem with the delay. Take your time. But I have checked carefully to see if there was any advanced install. I may have overlooked it, but as of now, I am quite sure there was no such option. However, let me go back and check again. Also, I am having problem sending email to the list. My mails are getting bounced back. I hope this one goes. I hope rest of them are getting chance to lay their hands on the code. Sorry for not gettign back to you, I have been busy. I think that when you install PostGreSQL on windows early on in theinstall wizard there is an option to do a default or advanced install. The wording may be different, but you need to select the advanced install and then you can add the includ= e directories. I'll try and sort this out for you soon and I'll post screen images on teh website (but give me a few days...) I have now finished my testing of the Preparation screens and will now star= t work on the Construction screens. In short the preparation screens allow for the addition of the institute, programme, module, faculty, department, staff, room, allocation of modules to lectures, details on student enrolment numbers and the timeslots when lectures and labs can be allocated. The construction screen will permit the actual construction of the time table and will permit different versions (well that's the plan) as it is being generated. Obviously there may still be a few bugs floating around and I need to properly document the user manual on the web site. Sarma how did you get on with installing it on Windows? graeme. |

Hi All, I have a Windows XP machine. Having trouble compiling the code on it. I have followed the instructions on our home page. My trouble started in the section "Compile Qt plugin for pgsql". The downloaded PostGreSQL (ver 8.1.3) did not have include/ folder (???). But, it had lib/ folder. So, I went back and downloaded just the binaries and copied both the folders (lib and include) at specified location (under Qt). The actual problem is that the folder structure under lib folder (as per documentation on our home page) is not the same as the folder structure in the downloaded PostGreSQL. Therefore, make is failing. It is complaining that it could not find ms/libpq.lib file under lib/. So, what to do now? I hope I was clear. I apologize if this is a trivial problem. Thanks, Sarma __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com |

For everyone taking exams, all the best. Yesterday I found a fairly simple (not very urgent) and self contained job that needs to be done. Most classes have a dump method that is used to display details on the screen. But they are inconsistent and not every clas= s has one. The task is to ensure that every class has one and that the method is consistent. I think that the dump method should be of the following format. QString dump(bool) It will return the class details in a QString, but additionally on a bool switch it will write them to cout. This last feature could be controlled by configuration switches which may determine if it is to be written, the leve= l of detail and where it is to be written. Actually I have a preference for the configuration switches over the bool parameter thus the signature would be: QString dump() As I said this is non urgent so we can certainly mull the design over. graeme. Greetings everyone, I was very busy last week so I didn't manage much, I don't even think that = I managed to send out a message to you all. I am still working through the existing code and checking for errors before moving on to the next stage. I am now looking at the enrolment tab and hope to finish that this week and also start work on sorting out the problems with the timeslot tab. Once tha= t is finished I can start work on the next stage which is the actual generation of the timetable. I am also slowly adding information to the web site, I'm looking at trying to add a user manual, at least I want to make a start :) I'd love to hear how you are getting along with installing and running the program. I would love to hear from anyone who feels ready to start contributing. There are lots of areas, initially I can think of the following: - Add unit test cases - Start work on the configuration manager - Start work on the installer Please let me know what you want to do. cheers, graeme. |
