OK. I was confused. Great idea. Alain From: tik...@li... However, "financial"? I meant awards as "T-Shirt", not money. (but they cost money) Example: http://dev.tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php?page=TwoRevamp&pagenum=2#_Tikiwiki_gear Xavi 2008/5/20 Desilets, Alain <Ala...@nr...>: Great idea. Not sure the reward needs to be financial. Alain From: tik...@li... [mailto:tik...@li...] On Behalf Of Xavier de Pedro Puente Sent: May 20, 2008 5:37 AM To: Tiki users mailing list Subject: [Tikiwiki-users] PROPOSAL: Enhance TW community by some internalawards Hi all: Last months I've been thinking in ways to promote Tikiwiki Community. We had some discussion in last weeks at tiki-devel list, but this should be (imo) driven to all TW users list... (tw forums?). So I through this new proposal here on this list, at least as a starting point... Those of us who can't code (more than small hacks to previously coded files) might promote/reward those who code the most, or who code the best, or who fix the higher number of bugs, etc. Maybe the 3 most active in whatever activity that benefits us all. An easy reward would be, for instance, one of the Tikiwiki T-Shirt's that can be delivered by post to those people, for instance... (amette knows all details about it, and maybe some others might have alternatives). We would need to have some place where we can collect some donations for those internal awards... Some of us, TW Community members (either simple users, or coders, etc.), are getting some money back from our work related to Tikiwiki installations, courses taught, etc. so some of us might not mind giving some money back to promote the Community activity, etc. (some people have been actively doing this for long, afaik) Some quick & dirty calculations could be: T-shirt price: around 25 euro/unit We could start by: * the best 3 bug fixers of the year * the best 3 forum/irc/list helpers of the year * the best 3 committers to cvs/svn of the year * the best 3 documenters of the year This would mean 25 euro x 12 people: 300 euro/year Lets imagine that 10 people can donate on average 30 euro this year 2008: this would mean that we could have funds for that type of Tikwiki internal awards... :-) What do you think? Anyone raising it hand as potential donor for that idea/project? (or course, I raise my hand for that... :-) Xavi P.S.: I've voted already for TW on the sf.net 2008 awards (http://tikiwiki.org/art165), but I don't think we have any chance to win any one, since there is not category suitable for TW (imho)... So why not promoting our own internal awards? For instance, below you can see an example from the Moodle community (moodle.org), which already have that type of internal awards... ---------------------------------------------- (from a message through Moodle rss news:) As announced in the developer meeting yesterday, the <http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/059652918X?ie=UTF8&tag=httpmoodlcom-20&linkCo%0A%0ANew%20mail%20server%0Ahttp://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=88619%0Aby%20Martin%20Dougiamas.%20%20%3Cp%3E%20Just%20a%20technical%20note:%20I%27ve%20moved%20the%20moodle.org%20%3Ca%20class=> Moodle bugathon <http://docs.moodle.org/en/Bugathon> prize winners are as follows: Most bugs resolved Dan Poltawski Gary Anderson David Mudrak runners-up: Petr Kalis, Mike Churchward, Eric Merrill and Michael Spall Most fixes verified Nicolas Martignoni Séverin Terrier Most duplicates identified Dan Poltawski David Mudrak Wen Hao Chuang Most new bugs filed Matt Gibson Dan Poltawski Wen Hao Chuang Prizes consisted of cash, iPods and a choice of any item from the Moodle Shop <http://www.cafepress.com/moodle/> .
