Follow-up to r4156: long lines in side-by-side diffs are unreadable if not wrapped. For unbreakable long lines, the side-by-side mode is really not the appropriate mode anyway. Keeping the overflow visible enable you to notice that something might be missed, which would otherwise be not that obvious using overflow: hidden.
