AdaptiveCollisionHand-Method

Method

Overview

The experiment included 5 able-bodied participants, see the experimental paper description for details. Noise was added to simulate a generic disability. The total effort for each participant was typically just under an hour.

Example video

An example video showing the five tasks and the different conditions used in the experiment can be found in the 'method' folder. The video can also be seen here: Multimedia extensions

Questionnaires

The questionnaires given to each participant can be found in the folder 'method'. One before starting the experiment ('pre...') and one after ('post...').

The consent form given to each participant before beginning the experiment can be found in the folder 'method'. This also contains the specific instructions given to each participant.

Note that in the section 'What about confidentiality?' it is written that "a code will be placed on the survey and other collected data". Similarly in the section 'What are the risks of this research' it is written that "all performance data will be kept secure on password protected computers". Every participant was therefore later asked if their data could be presented online with this experimental paper, and all confirmed. The identity of each participant is still protected through the use of three-digit participant numbers ([subjectID], see [AdaptiveCollisionHand-Code-Startup]).
