Just speaking for the Hebrew calendar, display is the major use case of course, but the most important additional use case is for yearly or monthly repeating events: the same date a year from now (most common) or the same day of the month every month. For what it is worth, Outlook supports all the standard repeat scheduling in the alternative calendars as the Gregorian one (x day of every Hebrew month, or the last Friday of a given Hebrew month yearly, that kind of thing). So they found that enough of a use case to support those kinds of calculations. -----Original Message----- From: Stephen Colebourne [mailto:sco...@jo...] Sent: Wednesday, August 29, 2012 6:41 AM To: thr...@li... Subject: [threeten-develop] Non-ISO calendar systems Hi all, As noted before, most recent discussion has been on the GitHub issues. https://github.com/ThreeTen/threeten/issues?sort=created&state=open The key point under debate is how non-ISO calendar systems should be integrated. Could I ask the following questions of those on this list (a survey may need to follow for a wider audience): How often do you find you use a calendar system other than the standard ISO/Gregorian? What about other developers or projects you know of? If a non-ISO system is used, how is it used? Just in the UI layer, or more widely than that? Are there lots of non-ISO calculations, or is it just for formatting? Any other thoughts? (think about requirements and use cases, not the current design of 310) thanks Stephen ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
