Donald Cupp Jr has been busy and has ironed out kinks and polishing the beautiful vehicle Thinstation, and he proudly presents Thinstation-5.1. As usual you get it from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/thinstation/files/thinstation/thinstation-5/ or from git. |

Thinstation 5.0 has been released. After about a year of development Thinstation 5.0 - the successor to Thinstation 2.2.2 - has been released today. During its development program Thinstation 5.0 has been known as version 2.5, but as the entire code base is new, the developers wanted to part from the 2.x series branding. So we decided to stick to the the "5" in "2.5" and here is version 5.0. Thinstation 5.0 is based on Crux Linux 2.7 code, but the user front end is very much the same as previously, i.e. it still uses build.conf and thinstation.conf*. There are of course some new things to learn (2.2.x is more than five years old) but the soul and spirit is all the same. However, this is new times and there are new requirements: A simple build requires 64 MB RAM and an i686 class processor is required. This is 16 year old technology, any CPU post 2003 works and almost any post 1996 does. For package developers Thinstation 5.0 is great news. It is so easy now to add own packages or modify existing ones thanks to the standardized Crux code base. The number of packages updated are *way* to extensive to mention, but on most bases we have 2011/2012 versions of everything, including Linux kernel 3.2.2 and xorg7. So, have fun and enjoy Thinstation 5.0. Download Thinstation 5.0 from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/thinstation/files/thinstation/thinstation-5/ TS-O-Matic service and LiveCDs are expected shortly. The Thinstation crew. |

There are still a few more packages that need to be integrated before we start with the release candidates, but I think we are really really close now. Didn't I just say that a few months ago? |

Hi all. official rdesktop 1.6.0 contribution for Thinstation 2.2.x is now up on Sourceforge. It includes the binaries for rdesktop 1.6.0 AND 1.5.0. If for any reason you can't use 1.6.0, you can change the packages/rdesktop/bin/rdesktop symlink to point at the rdesktop-1.5.0 binary (in the same directory). This is the same package as will be included in Thinstation-2.2.2. Enjoy -- Trevor Batley Thinstation Developer http://thinstation.org |

Hi all, we have added a new Firefox installer package in the thinstation contribs download area at sourceforge. Please remove your old firefox package before installing this. This package will install firefox from the standard firefox package. You can either download your own copy locally and change your firefoxurl param, or install from the thinstation.org site which is the default setting (we have 2.0.0.12 sitting on thinstation.org). The package is called firefox_TS-2.x.tar.gz Enjoy Trevor B |

Hi all, I have created a new category in the downloads section of sourceforge for patches. They can be installed like a contributed package, ie: cd into your build directory tar -zxvf <path to patch>/<patch> The first 2 patches are: pcspkr-patch-0.1_TS-2.2.tar.gz which contains the missing pcspkr.ko module wireless-patch-0.1_TS-2.2.tar.gz which contains the fix for wireless configuration when using manual network configurations Thanks to Leonid Satanovsky & Guill. Moreno-Socias for finding these bugs and helping in their resolution. Trevor B |

Hi all, I left one thing undone in Thinstation 2.2.1 (Production). It still says 2.2.1rc4 on your replimenu etc...... I am uploading a new version with that change. If you have already downloaded, don't worry it is an easy fix. Just edit packages/base/etc/thinstation.env and change the TS_VERION value on line 8 to 2.2.1 Sorry for the inconvenience. Trevor B |

Hi all, Thinstation 2.2.1rc4 is finally making it's way up onto sourceforge. As below the real changes are just to the usb hotplug (hopefully it will handle more usb sticks correctly) and the removal of the superfluous Mouse2 (which doubled the mouse inputs, causing havoc with certain mice). Please note that there is one new USB parameter available: USB_MOUNT_OPTIONS will let you add some mount options for your usb devices (eg. utf8 or shortname=win95 or anything else you can find in man mount that applies to your devices). Please test & send your feedback to the Developers list. We would like to try and make 2.2.1 Production very soon.
