That utility is only needed when the pixbuf loaders are changed or updated. After that, it's just dead wait. Since once the build is complete, the pixbuf loaders are unlikely to be changed, that utility is deleted to save space. Rest assured however, that the utility is used at the right time to update the cache file, during build. The error you are getting might mean that you need an additional pixbuf loader or perhaps the gtk-2.0 full package.

Hi,
I have some problem with gdk-pixbuf-loaders:
i.e. linphone reports on the commandline:
Failed to load pixbuf file:... Couldn't recognize the image file format

googled and found this advice:
gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders --update-cache

and would like to give it a try but...tried prt-get update gdk-pixbuf
and all the binaries are build and also copied into the packages path:
ls -l thinstation/build/packages/gdk-pixbuf/bin
insgesamt 24
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 7312 Apr 29 12:57 gdk-pixbuf-csource
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 5784 Apr 29 12:57 gdk-pixbuf-pixdata

however none of them makes it into the final build - what am I missing here?
