When booting from the external flash drive, terminal does not show any other devices mounted other than /usbdevice/sda1.  It does not mount the internal hardware.  
As an experiment, I re-ran TSoM using identical information from the LiveCD and added two lines for STORAGE_CONFIG#=/mnt/usbdevice/sdb1 and /sdc1 to see if that would make a difference.  However, it returned the 'session type not valid' message when booting from the external drive as well.
I don' t know if this helps, but the internal storage is a 2GB ATA Flash disk (ad_b612j).  I don't know what this would translate as under Thinstation.

I just tested against the Danish TSoM and it works as advertised. My guess is that you have confused the files and uploaded the wrong ones in the wrong places. First go LiveCD.desktop.build and later LiveCD.desktop.buildtime. Also make sure you have set the correct TS version in the beginning (2.2.2f).
