VMware View uses a module in order to perform USB Passthrough of _arbitrary USB connected devices_, that particular component is not included in the "Open View Client" releases. The module has some set of quirks which currently prevents redistribution via either binary blob (from www.vmware.com) or open source (via code.google.com). I noticed that Trevor just clarified the stance regarding storage/print class devices in his reply. -J, (BTW: I'm not part of the VMware View team) -- Jason Mills -- jm...@vm... -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - - -- Virtual Appliance Partner Enablement Manager -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - - -- ________________________________ From: Dominic Chan [mailto:dwc...@gm...] Sent: Thursday, November 19, 2009 5:18 PM To: thi...@li... Subject: Re: [Thinstation-general] USB stick support with ThinStation I guess what is confusing is this. According to the open-source vmview site, it say that USB redirect is not supported, and yet, you mention it is here for rdesktop. I just want to make sure I understood it correctly dwc On Thu, Nov 19, 2009 at 7:41 PM, TrevorB <tre...@us...> wrote: VMView uses rdesktop. The REDIRECT command passes that value through to rdesktop. Rdesktop supports usb sticks mounted locally, but showing up on the vm desktop. Trevor B |
