bootsplash is very finicky. If the standard Thinstation bootsplash
doesn't appear on your machines, your created one won't.

One very important points is 'flatten all the layers into one'.

What version of TS are you using? 
Which TSoM (there was a bug where the uploaded image was copied in, but
not displayed - especially if NOT 1024x768)?
