I use disk-on-chip modules in some of my lower power boxes (mini-itx). They use hardly any power (approx 800 times less than a HDD), and go to s= leep after a few minutes (Ideal for TS). They fit straight into the IDE socket and don=92t require the ribbon cabl= e. In my testing the amount of power drawn by these modules was so small tha= t it didn't register on the power meter I used. Disk-On-Modules - a sort of solid state disk that you plug directly into the IDE socket. Have a look here: http://struktur.kemi.dtu.dk/thinstation/ > > Are they messy / expensive / dangerous / rare? Neat, 30-45 USD for 32-128 MB units, but maybe not that easy to dig up. I never saw these in a normal computer shop. I got mine from a supplyer of industrial equipment.
