What happens if you traceroute to the boxes whilst they are unavailable? Kev -----Original Message----- From: thi...@li... Subject: [Thinstation-general] Network oddities Hi, I am experiencing some weird networking issues with Thinstation 2.1.3. We are using PXE and DHCP to boot the clients. This works fine. After the client is booted it is supposed to start up a local X server and connect to a Linux terminalserver. However, this does not work most of the time because for some reason the terminalserver is not reachable via the network. If I switch to the local console I cannot ping the terminalserver either by hostname nor by IP. Some servers are reachable (both via hostname and IP) while others are not, e.g. I can ping the file- and mailserver just fine but not the citrix servers. After a while the issues resolves itself and the connection is established. I am using the tg3 module for the NIC. Since it is onboard I am not quite sure what brand it is. The logfile says : Mar 13 23:04:11 ts_003005AE9C89 user.info kernel: eth0: Tigon3 [partno(BCM95751) rev 4101 PHY(5750)] (PCIX:100MHz:32-bit) 10/100/1000BaseT Ethernet 00:30:05:ae:9c:89 Mar 13 23:04:11 ts_003005AE9C89 user.info kernel: eth0: RXcsums[1] LinkChgREG[0] MIirq[0] ASF[0] Split[0] WireSpeed[1] TSOcap[0] This happened to me at 2 different customer sites. Networking for fat clients and LTSP clients works fine, e.g. they connect to the terminalserver straight away. The hardware Thinstation uses is the same in both cases though. Any ideas what could cause this ?
