My usb.sh script in attachment is an example > of such option. It also includes base unicode support using utf8 mount > option. Your script does not fix the problem. It still uses supermount: none on /mnt/usbdevice/sda1 type supermount (rw,dev=/dev/sda1,fs=vfat,tray_lock=onwrite,--,shortname=win95,utf8) The issue still exists when using your script. Why do you use supermount anyway? I modified your script a bit... if [ "$ID_FS_TYPE" = "vfat" ] ; then mkdir /mnt/usbdevice/$devname mount -t vfat $DEVNAME /mnt/usbdevice/$devname ls -la /mnt/usbdevice/$devname elif [ "$ID_FS_TYPE" = "ntfs" ] ; then The usb stick gets mounted as: /dev/sda1 on /mnt/usbdevice/sda1 type vfat (rw,fmask=0022,dmask=0022,codepage=cp850,iocharset=iso8859-1) and the problem is gone.
